Alex Shane

As a wrestler, as a trainer, and as a promoter, Alex Shane has done it all on the European wrestling scene. At 6”6 and 19 stone Alex is widely regarded as one of the most recognisable and charismatic personalities to have come out of England in the last 20 years.

As a wrestler, he captured the FWA British Heavyweight Title twice winning his first at just 19 years of age making him the youngest British Champion in History. Alex also broke the world record when he held nine national and regional heavyweight championships at thesame time in 2005. Alex has also competed against some of the major names in international wrestling of the past decade - including international stars such as Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, Raven, Steve Corino, Doug Williams, Paul Burchill and Joe Legend. He also holds a massively high profile victory over wrestling legend and star of the movie “Beyond the Mat”, Mick Foley. Because of this success as a competitor he has made over 3,000 TV, radio and national newspaper appearances in the last ten years including appearances on “The Big Breakfast”, “This Morning” and “The Jerry Springer Show”.

As a promoter, he is famed as the man who turned the FWA into the most talked-about wrestling promotion in Europe. He was the brains and driving influence behind some of the biggest wrestling shows on UK soil of the past 10 years - including, British Uprising 1, 2 and 3, International Showdown, Universal Uproar, the King of Europe Cup and “Revival” which was aired live on national radio and shown on Bravo. As the UK promoter, he was responsible for bringing both Ring of Honor and TNA, two of the world’s biggest wrestling companies to Britain for their debut UK tours.

Alex was responsible for British wrestling's return to national television as the executive producer of both series of the FWA TV show on The Wrestling Channel in 2004/5. He was also the producer of several one off televised events including huge arena events at the Coventry Skydome. On top of this Alex has also worked as the technical consultant for several TV shows and various channels including ITV, MTV and BBC.

As a trainer, he has influenced, mentored, or directly coached, hundreds of British wrestlers and personalities. They include 'South City Thriller' Hade Vansen (WWE), 'Bombay Dream' Ross Jordan, Paul Burchill (WWE), Katie Lea (WWE), Stixx, Terry Frazier, 'Dangerous' Damon Leigh, Seamus O'Shaughnessy (WWE), Dirk Feelgood, Joey Hayes, Declan O'Connor and hundreds of non wrestlers including LDN promoter Sanjay Bagga and XWA owner Greg Lambert.
He also co-hosted UK wrestling's only national radio show, Talk Wrestling on TalkSport, in 2001 and 2002 which at it’s peak attracted an audience of between 300,000 and 400,000 listeners every Saturday night.

As a spokes person for the wrestling industry Alex wrote the worlds first ever nationally recognised training syllabus which begans being used by schools around the UK in August 2009. This step will make pro wrestling training a recognised martial art, a step that will open up legitimate Sports Council funding to the industry for the first time in history.

Alex is also a published writer with his “Guide to Pro Wrestling” articles being a main feature of Fighting Spirit magazine for almost 2 years. He has also written several articles for Powerslam magazine and in April 2009 became an author when his Alex Shane’s Guide to Pro Wrestling – Volume 1 book was released.

What Alex Shane doesn't know about pro wrestling, isn't worth knowing. For anyone who wants to become a professional wrestler, or who simply wants to learn more about the wrestling business, Alex is one of the most important people on the European wrestling scene.
