Doug Williams

Following a strong background in Judo, including a national championship, Doug began wrestling training for NWA: Hammerlock in 1993 and made his debut in October of that year.

Doug continued to work hard and perfect his craft on the small but growing British scene. He won numerous championships in the UK with increasing appearances in the rest of Europe. His regular appearances for British promotion FWA along with a highly regarded performance in the King of England tournament (including a win over legend Eddie Guerrero) led to the man from Maidstone to attract the interest of American promotion Ring of Honor.

He made his debut for the promotion on June 22, 2002 defeating Bryan Danielson and from there became one of ROH’s first international regulars. His time in ROH included shots at the world championship and critically acclaimed matches against some of the best talent in the world. But, undoubtedly the highlight of his time in ROH was his reign as the first ever ROH Pure Wrestling Champion in 2004.

It was Doug’s performances in Ring of Honor that led to his association with legendary Japanese promotion, Pro Wrestling NOAH. He began touring Japan in 2004 and became GHC Tag Team champion with Scorpio in 2005. His relationship with the company went from strength to strength and he eventually became NOAH’s European agent.

Somehow, in between his hectic schedule, Doug found the time to create the King of Europe Cup tournament concept with Alex Shane that was the talk of wrestling promotions all over the world. Williams himself was defeated in the final of the tournament.

Doug went onto sign a contract with NWA: Total Nonstop Action, the second biggest promotion in America. He made sporadic appearances with the company while representing them all over the world. Doug took the opportunity to be on a superstar filled roster with two hands and certainly excelled leading to him signing a renewal of his contract. His hard work was rewarded in 2009 when he became one half of TNA’s Tag Team Champions.
