Nick Aldis

Always athletic, Nick Aldis was a strong swimmer and avid tennis player growing up, but it was his venture into bodybuilding which brought him to the wrestling industry, where he made his professional debut in 2003 at the age of just 17. In an ironic nod to the future, Nick's most successful night in his early career was his debut for Premier Wrestling, where he faced Doug Williams in a two out of three falls match.

In 2008, Aldis was known to the world as Oblivion, in Sky tv's reimaging of the iconic 90's show 'Gladiators'. He immediately stood out for his vocal work on the show, which led to him being seen as the leader of the Gladiators for fans of the show, even overshadowing the iconic Gladiator 'Wolf'.

Nick's success on Gladiators led to American company TNA signing him in 2008, where he took on the persona of 'Modern Day Gladiator' Brutus Magnus, the character a natural progression from his Gladiators persona.

Just a year later, TNA teamed him together with UK wrestling legend Doug Williams, and the British Invasion tag team was formed. So successful were they, that in addition to capturing the TNA Tag Team Titles during their run, they were also used in cross promotional matches with legendary Japanese promotion NJPW, winning the prestigious IWGP Tag Team Titles.

Nick would go on to have a short-lived tag team with Desmond Wolfe (Nigel McGuiness) in 2010 known as 'London Brawling', and is currently teaming with Samoa Joe. His value to the company was underlined in 2010 when TNA President Dixie Carter announced he had been signed to a long term contract.

Much like BWC founder Alex Shane, Nick is very erudite and even has his own column in Fighting Spirit Magazine.
